$10 million for Gold Coast Tourism
27 Sep | '2020
The Morrison Government is backing regional tourism. Today on World Tourism Day, I am very pleased to announce a $50 million support package for regional tourism. The Gold Coast will benefit greatly, receiving $10 million.
Last year more than a million international tourists visited the Gold Coast and spent over $1.34 billion. That was nearly a quarter of the total tourism spend on the Gold Coast and supported 30,000 tourism jobs. With international borders closed we need to attract more domestic tourism.
The funding will help attract more Australian tourists to the Gold Coast, by adapting marketing and experiences to suit domestic visitors. It will build on the many other Morrison Government programs, like JobKeeper, that have been vital for tourism operators locally.
