Australian families always pay more under Labor
30 October 2024
After promising Australian families cheaper child care, Labor’s policy failure has instead delivered higher prices, with out of pocket costs increasing by 12.1 per cent in the last 12 months.
The latest CPI data released today by the ABS shows out of pocket costs for early childhood education have increased by 3.2 per cent in the September quarter.
Shadow Minister for Early Childhood Education, Angie Bell, said Labor’s failed economic policies continue to push up the price of early learning for families who are already doing it tough.
“In the last two years, Australian households have faced 12 interest rate hikes, higher electricity and gas bills, and are spending more to feed their families at the checkout. Unfortunately, those who place their children in early learning and care, have also watched their fees increase, eating away any savings this Labor Government promised them,” Ms Bell said.
“I’ve heard from many families who say they are struggling to get by as the cost of everything increases.
“The cost of living crisis is getting worse for Australians and this Government’s inability to manage the economy and their reckless spending is hurting families and businesses around the country.”
The Albanese Government continues to lie to families about how much better off they are under Labor. But Australians know better.
The last time Labor was in Government, fees skyrocketed by 53 per cent in just six years.
With out of pocket costs rising again, Australian families deserve to know why they always pay more under Labor.
