Griffith University Knights to score under LNP

With sporting clubs across the Gold Coast being neglected under Labor, Federal Member for Moncrieff, Angie Bell, has today announced a $286,800 commitment for upgrades to the Griffith University Knights’ facilities, if a LNP Government is elected.
“Sport is an integral part of life on the Gold Coast, but our clubs are being left behind by this Labor Government, with limited funding opportunities available to them. As a result, improvements for the Griffith Uni Knights have been put on the back burner,” Ms Bell said.
“The Ashmore-based club is one of the most successful on the Gold Coast with an impressive trophy cabinet of five first grade premierships in the last seven years. To continue their successful run of silverware, I’m proud to announce a$286,800 commitment to upgrade the club’s facilities, including the field, gym and LED lighting.
“This funding commitment will help the iconic Griffith Uni Knights Rugby Club remain a vibrant, high-quality facility for our community to enjoy for years to come.
“Only an LNP Government will provide the support our local clubs need to continue to thrive because unlike Labor, the LNP has the right priorities and the right policies to strengthen communities and get Australia back on track.”
Chairman of the Griffith University Knights, Phil Verheijen, said this funding commitment will greatly benefit their current playing group and attract new talent to the club.
“As the largest senior rugby club on the Gold Coast, we have a significant membership base that will greatly benefit from and enjoy these upgraded facilities,” said Mr Verheijen.
“We also have a strong grassroots talent pool that we can continue to develop in an environment with quality turf, lighting and gym amenities when this project is delivered under a Liberal National Government.”
