LABOR’S CONSERVATION CREDENTIALS EXTINCT

The latest victim of the Labor Government has come in the form of the Christmas Island Shrew – Australia’s 39th extinction as declared by the International Union for the Conservation of Nature.

This 39th national extinction comes after former Environment Minister, Tanya Plibersek’s international commitment to prevent extinctions under the Albanese Labor Government.

Shadow Minister for the Environment and Youth, Angie Bell has called this a monumental government failing.

“It’s a truly sobering statistic to have lost Australia’s only shrew and is the latest in a litany of broken promises by this government,” Ms Bell said.

“They continue to spruik their environmental credentials but this inaction on protecting native species from extinction is a perfect example of how they’re once again dropped the ball and failed to act to preserve our environment.

“This government is distracted and has all the wrong priorities.”

Australia leads the world in mammal extinctions and ranks second for loss of biodiversity.
