JOSH MARTIN:

Angie, National Cabinet is meeting today, what are you hoping comes from the meeting?

ANGIE BELL:

Well, we know that the Prime Minister has no plan, there’s no urgency and he’s not showing any leadership on this issue of fuel insecurity in our country. What he needs to do is move the fuel where it’s needed and slash that fuel excise, so that Australians can afford to fill up their cars, and that they can actually access fuel.

Now, the Coalition has a plan and we want to slash the fuel excise by 26 cents a litre and that will cost around about, or save around about $16 million a day for Australians across the country. We want to make sure that Australians can actually access that fuel and that they can afford to fill up for their holidays.

JOSH MARTIN:

Are you concerned slashing the exhaust with that the demand on stations already running dry?

ANGIE BELL:

What I will say on demand is that the Prime Minister needs to get the fuel to where it’s needed because Australians cannot access fuel around the country. As we’ve seen this morning over at the lodge there, the servo closest to the lodge, was out of fuel this morning.  I think it’s unacceptable that Australians cannot access fuel when the government is telling us that we have more fuel than before the war began. So, if that’s the case then why can’t Australians access it?

JOSH MARTIN:

What are your thoughts on the latest Newspoll? The Coalition still languishing. How do you turn things around against One Nation?

ANGIE BELL:

Well, certainly we are listening to Australians and we’ve received their message loud and clear. What we need to be doing is focus on making sure that Australians can afford to live in our country because it simply unaffordable to fill the car up. People are trying to pay their mortgages, they’re trying to pay their bills. And so, what we want to do is restore our way of life and protect what we’re doing here in Australia, when it comes to how we live and that’s so very important. And that is what the Coalition is focused on.

JOSH MARTIN:

Is the Prime Minister doing enough to put pressure on Donald Trump to end the war?

ANGIE BELL:

Well, I think we’re not sure what the Prime Minister’s doing when it comes to trying to end the war. This war is impacting all Australians around the country as we’ve seen with this fuel crisis. But last week we saw the Prime Minister and the Deputy Prime Minister couldn’t agree on exactly what it was The United States had asked for. And so, I would ask the Prime Minister to be transparent and tell the Australian people about what the United States has actually requested from Australia.
