Youth crime is out of control in many parts of our country and more needs to be done to combat it. This week, the Federal Coalition introduced the Crimes and Online Safety Legislation Amendment (Combatting Online Notoriety) Bill 2024 into Parliament that seeks to crack down on youth crime by making it illegal to post social media material that glamorises violence and criminal activity.

Federal Parliament is sitting this week. It may not come as a surprise that the cost of living is high on the agenda, power prices, housing supply and Australia’s supermarket duopoly has dominated the conversations this week.
The price of Australia’s favourite SUVs, utes and 4WDs will be jacked up by thousands of dollars under Labor’s proposed carbon tax on vehicles. Industry analysis of Labor’s family car tax predicts the cost of some popular models such as the Toyota Landcruiser could rise by as much as $25,000. Federal Member for Moncrieff, Angie Bell said Labor’s newest tax will put too many cars out of reach for families and tradies on the Gold Coast.

The Federal Government’s overhaul of the stage three tax cuts have passed the Senate. The changes aimed to broaden the benefits of the original tax cuts halving the tax break offered to wealthier Australians but bolstering the benefit for those on lower incomes.
