An outdoor fitness station, mental health programs and air-conditioning rollouts are some of the exciting projects that will come to life after local MP Angie Bell announced more funding for projects at 21 Gold Coast schools.

Ms Bell said the Morrison Government is providing $200,000 to fund projects through the Local Schools Community Fund.

“The Southport Special School will receive a refurbishment of their sensory room, so children with autism and complex sensory and learning needs, improving the emotional and educational outcomes for students,” Ms Bell said.

“Keebra Park State High School, Miami State School and Nerang State High School are implementing programs and updating facilities to improve the mental health and wellbeing of their students.

“The Morrison Government recognises the important role that schools play in our community and that’s why we’re funding small projects that will make a big difference at our local schools.”

Ms Bell said this is an additional investment on top of the Coalition Government’s record funding of $310 billion for schools.

“We had an overwhelming response from schools across Moncrieff who out in applications and I would like to thank our panel of local education experts who helped decide which projects would benefit the community most,” she said.

“Congratulations to the successful applicants and I look forward to further rounds for the Local Schools Community Fund.

“These local school projects will go a long way in helping our students and the local school community when they are completed next year.”
